Fluxes and tablets for the modification of the molten alloy

To achieve a perfect modification treatment, FONDERMAT INDUSTRY offers the following solutions:

• NAFOND line: extruded sodium in sticks and capsules
• SIST DS, SIST 5 and SIST 5 GR DF: automatic systems for alloy treatment

The modification treatment has the objective of modifying the morphology of the silicon present in the eutectic blend through the addition of specific chemical elements in the alloy. Today these treatments are performed industrially though the addition of sodium, strontium, antimony, or rare Earth elements. They intervene on the silicon crystallization process, varying its shape and size. Through modification, it is possible to improve the mechanical characteristics compared to an alloy with a large, inhomogeneous grain and therefore no porosity or hot cracks form in the alloy.
