Degassing of the molten alloy

Degassing eliminates the solubilised hydrogen in the molten alloy. It also aids in the elimination of a portion of the suspended non-metallic inclusions. Following are the most common degassing techniques:

1- DEGASSING WITH CHEMICAL PROCESSES
Degassing is performed by inserting degassing tablets that develop nitrogen, available in self-sinking form or in tablets to be immersed using a suitable mechanical tool.

2- DEGASSING WITH MECHANICAL PROCESSES

This type of degassing is performed through:

• injection of inert gas (nitrogen or argon) in the molten alloy using a lance
• injection of an inert gas using a rotor
